Fear of failure

I must admit that I do have this fear of failure.  But for me this is a healthy aspect of my life.  What would be unhealthy is if and when I dwell on it too much or I don't do anything to conquer my fear.  Here is an article that I found from Entrepreneur Magazine that can help heaps in overcoming fear.  I read and listened to it and I know that I'm not fearless but now I'm not fearful.

From scratch vs. existing business

If you are at the crossroads of your entrepreneurial decision-making whether to start from scratch or buy an existing business, there is one question that you alone can answer.  Your answer will be based on how you visualise your business idea.  It is very difficult to convey this to the other person.  Most of the time you are the only one who can see the end of the tunnel, the vision.  The question that you must answer is this: What do I have in me that can make this business idea a reality?  You get the answer to this and the rest will be a breeze!

Before you know it January is nearly over

More than half of January 2015 is gone!  What have you accomplished so far?  Are your plans moving on according to speed?  What needs to be done to add more fuel to the fire?  I have been a bit remiss in my forecasts and projections for the new year and I'm beginning to pay for it by working extra hard to catch up. No need to fret though, I believe this all part of the process, sometimes the runner does stumble.  The main thing is for me to get up, brush off the dust, cleanse the wound, and carry on.  Don't think of the lost days but focus on the other full days ahead!  There is much to be done and miles to go.

Since the core principle of this blog is on Kiwi entrepreneurs, I would like to present to you an online resource nzentrepreneurs.org that could be a great takeoff point for all those existing, aspiring and budding entrepreneurs.  From the pages of this online resource you will find stories, sessions, and news on technology, business, and entertainment.  I couldn't get enough of the information from here.  Every time I visit the site there is always something new, waiting for me to discover, and in the process perhaps put into practise.  The year is still young and you can put this magazine into your to-do list on your entrepreneurship journey!

NZPlanet vlog

NZPlanet trailer
I've started the NZPlanet vlog to feature people, events and places in New Zealand with majority of the stories about existing, budding and aspiring Kiwi entrepreneurs.  It's great to know who these people are and how they were able to achieve what they've done in terms of their business and personal lives.  It will be about people, events and places that aren't normally covered by mainstream media or if they are, we will try to go deeper or come up with new information.  The people of New Zealand have this "can-do attitude" that is also referred to as the number 8 wire mentality.

According to Wikipedia this term is "often used inventively and practically for applications other than fencing.  It is also used as a term that epitomises the "Kiwi bloke" as someone who can turn their hand to anything, most commonly found in the phrase [a number 8 wire mentality] meaning the ability to crate or repair machinery using whatever scrap materials are available to hand."  From this definition it has been commonly used to reflect on a Kiwi who can do the impossible or something nearly impossible to do.  And this is what the vlog is all about, showcasing the possibilities of the impossible.  Bring it on then!

Digital footprint

Q: What is a digital footprint?

A: On the Internet a digital footprint is the word used to describe the trial, traces or "footprints" that people leave online.  This is information transmitted online, such as forum registration, emails and attachments, uploading videos or digital images and any other form of transmission of information---all of which leaves traces of personal information about yourself available to others online (as defined on Webopedia).  This is a fact of life now.  Some people couldn't have enough of their online presence, they need to keep on checking if they're still connected or relevant to others.  I've heard several times from people that they consider themselves dead when they can't access the Internet or their social media feeds are not up-to-date every minute of the day.  And this phenomenon is not just limited to individuals.  Corporations, non-profit organisations, and government institutions need to have a consistent, fresh, and relevant digital footprint all the time.  Have you got yours secured?
